Diploma in O.T.
Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) is a 2-year specialized course designed to train students in the field of medical operations and surgeries. This program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to assist in the smooth functioning of the operation theatre (OT), ensuring that surgeries and medical procedures are conducted safely and efficiently.
The curriculum focuses on various aspects, including sterilization techniques, equipment handling, patient preparation, anaesthesia support, surgical instruments management, and infection control. Students also learn about the roles of different medical professionals in the OT, such as surgeons, anaesthetists, and nurses. The course also emphasizes patient care, understanding medical ethics, and the maintenance of a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
In addition to theoretical learning, the course includes practical training in clinical settings, where students work closely with surgeons and other OT staff, gaining hands-on experience in real-life scenarios. This allows them to develop the confidence and competence required to work independently in an operating theatre.
Eligibility for the Diploma in OT Technology generally requires candidates to have completed 10+2 with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from a recognized board. Some institutions may conduct entrance tests or interviews.
