General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is a 3-year diploma program designed to train individuals in the core aspects of nursing and midwifery, preparing them for a career in healthcare. The program combines theoretical education with practical training, offering students an in-depth understanding of nursing practices, patient care, and maternal health.
Throughout the course, students study subjects such as Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Nursing Foundations, and Nutrition. These foundational subjects provide essential knowledge for understanding the human body, disease prevention, and treatment procedures. Additionally, students receive training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, where they learn how to assist in childbirth, provide prenatal and postnatal care, and monitor the health of both mother and baby.
The curriculum also covers areas like Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Community Health Nursing, equipping students to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. Practical training through clinical rotations is an essential component of the program, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-life scenarios under the guidance of experienced nurses and healthcare professionals.
